ARIS - Improving Business through IT

ARIS Business Performance Edition enables companies to describe their business processes in a technology-independent manner. The efficient use of IT is thus driven by business success and a business management view of processes. By focusing on mission-critical processes and the associated IT environment, IT systems can be analyzed and consolidated, so that potential savings are quickly realized. This also makes it easier to match existing IT investment to business requirements and deploy resources effectively. The main beneficiary, however, is the company balance sheet.

ARIS Business Architect for SAP -
Calling SAP transactions from ARIS

ARIS Business Architect for SAP (previously ARIS for SAP NetWeaver) enables enterprises to define business management requirements from a process perspective. The bidirectional interface to SAP Solution Manager allows the requirements and process models to be defined on the basis of SAP reference content for a process-based SAP solution. SAP systems can now be seamlessly implemented and configured using SAP Solution Manager.

The new ARIS Business Architect for SAP contains many enhancements to support SAP implementation or upgrade projects. End user roles from the SAP system can be created directly in ARIS models, so that the roles needed in the system can be identified at the blueprint phase.

The process description created at the blueprint phase enables test cases to be transferred directly during the project from ARIS into Solution Manager. Similarly, it is possible to call SAP transactions and input templates directly from modeled or published ARIS models. Conversely, users can easily access the process descriptions from the blueprint phase of the SAP project in the SAP system via F1 help.

A special BPEL interface from ARIS models to SAP PI (SAP Process Integration) also supports end-to-end integration of existing IT systems using SAP NetWeaver technology.

Flexible architecture management and targeted IT landscape planning

ARIS IT Architect

ARIS IT Architect features an easy-to-understand description method for establishing IT architectures within the ARIS methodology. Additional frameworks, such as DODAF, TOGAF, Zachmann, and ArchiMate, facilitate structured documentation of IT components. Setting up reference architectures enables IT standards to be defined across the company, which can also be used as the basis for IT projects.

ARIS IT Architect provides IT development planners with functionalities for documenting and analyzing the existing IT environment. Automatically generated views of planned and target situations enable IT development planning to be simulated and managed. Referencing IT systems for business and system functions and storing this process knowledge centrally in the ARIS repository allows full impact analysis between business and IT.

Web-based IT asset management

The new ARIS IT Inventory product provides users with a Web browser front-end for recording/updating application and technology data. System owners and developers have role-based access via an intuitive portal to IT system data from the central ARIS repository, which they can edit quickly and easily.

The scalability of ARIS IT Inventory means that IT system repositories can be quickly set up and system data simultaneously edited by multiple users. As a result, organizations are now able to maintain up-to-date information on their IT environment and ensure that their development planning is future-proof and flexible.

Business processes as the basis for a business-driven SOA

In the new ARIS SOA Architect, all business and technical services are displayed in specific service views, where searches can be made for existing services. In addition, all links between services are transparent. The use of various wizards makes it much easier to import, export, describe, and structure services.

Users of ARIS SOA Architect can design and operate their service landscape based on the OASIS SOA Reference Model, the recognized industry standard. The organization of services into categories according to a range of criteria means that service management time savings of up to 20 percent can be achieved, since available resources can be focused on the most strategically important services.

Integrated business process and rule modeling

ARIS Business Rules Designer

The new ARIS Business Rules Designer brings together business process management and business rule management under the standard ARIS user interface. Thanks to this integrated approach, decision rules can be modified without impacting the actual business process. It is also possible to list all processes affected by a rule change. Separating rule logic from process design enables all rules to be reused.

Combined process and rule modeling in ARIS Business Rules Designer enables companies to increase BPM efficiency by 20 percent and greatly accelerate process implementation in IT systems.
