Modeling Standards

Business process models provide an abstract view of complex structures. By focusing on specific parts of a structure, they highlight key relationships and ignore less relevant aspects. Models are used to document, analyze, and communicate reality. The essential requirement here is that different viewers of the model content will interpret it in the same way, despite having varying degrees of insight.

For this reason, modeling standards define model elements and their meaning. Modeling standards therefore allow efficient, collaborative business process management across corporate boundaries and disciplines.
